Hootsuite has just updated their twitter web client.  Some of the changes are a result of user suggestions and some were planned improvements.  Users will be presented with a splash screen when signing into Hootsuite introducing the new features.

Twitter released the Lists feature several months ago and for most users it it somewhat cumbersome to try and manage lists from the Twitter interface.  Now users can import lists they have already created, create new lists, and manage lists in columns.  Users will also be able to make further changes by using the column preference tab.

Hootsuite has also joined with Facebook, LinkedIn, and Ping.fm to allow users to manage their social media profiles from one single client.  Before this change users could update their different social networking accounts through Ping.fm.  But now Hootsuite can display Facebook and LinkedIn accounts within its column interface.  Users can create columns from these social networks, read their friends’ status updates, and update multiple Facebook accounts. Also, Facebook integration offers in-line commenting and scheduling of updates similar to scheduled tweets.

Hootsuite is also working on an iPhone app that will allow users to import tabs and columns, view stats, and schedule tweets on the go.
